Super Mario Bros. (also referred to as Nickelodeon's Super Mario Bros.) was an American-Japanese animated series based on the video game series of the same name and produced by Paramount Television Animation, DiC Entertainment, Nintendo of America, and Tokyo Movie Shinsha (TMS Entertainment). It is the fourth and final Mario cartoon produced by DiC Entertainment, and was met with mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and fans.

Bowser is a former king, warlord, and current dictator of the Mushroom Kingdom, which is the dystopian equivalent to the more colorful universe of Super Show, SMB 3, and Super Mario World. The entire population has been transformed by Bowser into his minions, and he rules that population with an iron fist. Mario and his team, consisting of him, Luigi, Toad, Donkey Kong, and 4 other characters created specifically for this series step into the infested kingdom in order to obliterate Bowser, cure the population, and save the princesses.
