Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a 2011 American science fiction action film based on the video game of the same name. The film, which combines computer animation with live-action filming, was directed by Michael Bay and Tim Burton, and released on June 17, 2011, by Paramount Pictures, serving as a sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog.

Upon release, the film had received positive reviews from critics and fans, praising the unique plot, the musical score, and the visual effects.


Peter Todd leaves the Sonic Gang behind for a normal life and Sonic embraces his new role as a hero and spends time with Amy. But when Peter's mind is overflowed with cryptic symbols, Sonic is Mistaken for a villainous hedgehog named Shadow, Sonic is on the run from a military organization named G.U.N. Also, Dr. Eggman declares world domination by the use of the Space Colony ARK. Aware of that Eggman and Shadow have aligned, Dr. Eggman discovers the military's top secret weapon - Project Shadow. He finds out that the project was Shadow, hence its title, who invites him to Space Colony ARK and reveals the Eclipse Cannon - an enormous weapon capable of destroying an entire planet. With a menacing bat named Rouge joining along, Dr. Eggman begins his quest for world domination. 

Peter then quits his normal life and goes back with Sonic, and reassembles with the rest of the gang
