Alvin/Simon/Theodore: Chipmunks is an upcoming American musical comedy film directed by Tim Miller, which serves as a reboot of the live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks films. The film stars Richard Horvitz, Matthew Gray Gubler, Alexis Tipton, and Jason Lee.
The film is produced by Ed-Olive Chadwick and Bloo J, with music composed by Alan Silvestri.
Produced by The Bloo Films and Badgasarian Productions, in association with TSG Entertainment, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (via 20th Century Fox) released the film on August 6th, 2021, with Paramount Pictures distributing the film internationally, to critical acclaim from critics.
After the tree they called home becomes dismantled and becomes shipped over to Los Angeles, talking chipmunks Alvin (Horvitz), Simon (Gubler) and Theodore (Tipton) find a new home with songwriter Dave Seville (Lee). Despite a rocky start to this new arrangement, Dave eventually discovers that the spunky critters have rare singing talent. When the three perform in front of record executive Ian Hawke (Jim Carrey), he immediately signs them. Although the infectious group rapidly gains in popularity, their loyalty is soon tested.
